Savannah has really been struggling this move. It's usually too cold & windy to go outside and she's very, very homesick for her friends ... I hear about Marin, JJ, Shalee, Emilee, Dakota, Caden ALL THE TIME. She likes to write letters to them, etc. We've been trying to make it better for her, but some of the kids that she's met haven't been nice so far and because of the weather you can't even do park days to meet friends there ... so it's been difficult trying to find ways to make it easier on her.
So we started her own special school each day. It makes the day much more crazy, but also provides some structure for her as well. She has work she needs to do and most of the time she seems to really enjoy that special attention. We've practiced cutting and I cut letters & numbers out with the cricut using her favorite scrapbook papers, and I bought her a HEAVILY discounted (only $40 compared to a regular retail of $200) Hooked on Phonics program too.
And then there are times when she gets special time on the computer, just her and can do whatever she wants to do to practice for school.
And then there are times when she gets special time on the computer, just her and can do whatever she wants to do to practice for school. It seems to be helping and I'm sure as soon as the weather improves that will make a world of difference too ... it has to get better for her ... right?

What a great mom! Let me know how Hooked on Phonics goes for her. I hope she finds some great new friends soon.
of course it'll get better. i'm sure there's a lot of emotions going through her and being cooped up and cold doesn't help. YOU are helping, though! great ideas to keep her busy learning and having fun! WHERE did you get that program for such a good deal?!?! *jealous
